Texas Festival of the Goddess

About the Venue

We will be camping at a park in Spicewood, Texas, ~30 miles outside of Austin. We have rented the entire campground area.

Camp sites will be first-come, first-serve. If you have accessibility or health needs, please let us know in your registration application or contact us beforehand. Water and electricity is available, as well as RV spots and crone tents. Flush toilets and showers with hot water are available. There are NO indoor cabins this year. Hotels are nearby, and some women may be open to sharing a hotel room. Please let us know on the registration page if you want to be connected with other women booking a hotel.

Things to Know

• Altars and Temples: We will have a dedicated temple space to this year’s Goddess, Hel, as well as the Maiden Temple space which will be dedicated to this year’s other Goddess, Demeter. Women are welcome to volunteer to help decorate the temples, usually done Friday before opening ceremony! Feel free to bring any thematically relevant altar decorations you would like to contribute (consider labeling them with your name) and remember to take them home with you when we break down Sunday.
• Toplessness: This year, the festival is being held at a county-owned park. Female toplessness is not illegal in the state of Texas or Travis County. A nearby road does have some traffic, although we have the entire campground to ourselves. Use your own discretion when considering to go topless. Pants (or some sort of bottom) are required.
• Check-in:Upon arrival, please stop by the check-in table and sign in. You will receive an email within a few days before the festival with arrival instructions and a vehicle pass that will get you into the park.
• Contributions:We welcome donations of ground coffee for the coffee station, firewood or even your expertise! Feel free to bring items you think will enhance the festival. When possible, offer a helping hand to elders or the disabled who may need assistance.
• Workshops:Workshops are scheduled by posting on the workshop board in the main community pop-up tent. When you post, please ensure that there is not something already happening at the same time, in the same place. Please also consider offering a Maiden’s Workshop! We ask that you not charge for a workshop, unless there is a small cost for hand-outs or supplies. If there will be a supply cost, please note this in your workshop description.

Community Agreements & Personal Responsibility

It is our intention that Festival of the Goddess be a place of spiritual retreat and sanctuary for womyn and maidens. A place to reflect, recharge and reconnect with like-minded womyn and have what’s needed to create the world we want future generations to thrive in.

We would like the festival to be a place of spiritual safety for all womyn seeking a connection with the Goddess and the Divine Feminine. This includes a culture of respect and honor for womyn in recovery, be it from alcoholism, addiction or violence. All of the spiritual workshops and ceremonies are optional and women should not be pressured to participate. Women of all beliefs are welcome to the festival as long as women’s goddess spirituality is respected.

Of course, the Goddess is in all acts of love and beauty and some of us include the use of herbs and sacred wine in our spiritual practice, but everything has its season and its place. We ask that womyn who imbibe will do so with the awareness that to do so is not a solitary act, but can impact the experience of the community as a whole. We ask that adult activities be avoided in the common areas of the pop-up tents, the Temples, and the tea and coffee area.

FESTIVAL OF THE GODDESS DOES NOT POST PICTURES OF PARTICIPANTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA WITHOUT WRITTEN CONSENT.

• Leave no trace! Do not litter, and show respect to the plants and animals around us. Dumpsters are available in the park for trash and recycling.
• Practice fire safely and follow burn bans for Travis County. Never leave a fire unattended.
• Respect boundaries of all womyn and maidens, particularly the use of adult behaviors, language, beverages, or drugs.
• Take personal responsibility for your actions when interacting with each other. If concerns arise due to a situation please involve the Festival of the Goddess crew to help resolve the issue.
• Smokers have designated areas that are allowed for smoking. The fire circle is one of those places, but please ask those around you if they are okay with smoking. Please be aware and safe when there are dry conditions.
• If you smoke, please dispose of ALL butts in a fire safe receptacle: tin, glass, or soda can.
• Dogs are allowed with advance notice only- please include in your registration application if you would like to bring your dog. Dogs must be on leash in any area not specifically designated as off-leash. You must respect the venue and other guests and pick up after your dog.

Talent Show & raffle

The Variety Show is an annual event that occurs on Saturday night! We have a sound system and excellent womyn to make it an unforgettable experience. Bring your talent, and entertain your sisters, praise the Goddess, and have a blast. Remember to bring your music if you plan to sing or dance! Do not record or take pictures unless you have the explicit consent of everyone being photographed. The signup sheet for the Variety Show will be in the main community area.

On Sunday morning, we’ll have a raffle! The raffle will consist of items that women bring. Funds will be used for the following year’s festival and scholarships. Items you bring don’t need to be new. It can be items in good condition that you think another woman may enjoy. In the past, women have brought art, knick knacks, books, puzzles, home items, candles, scarves, tarot decks, and anything else you can think of. You can bring one item or several. There are almost always enough items and a variety of them that everyone who purchases tickets goes home with one or more raffle items. You can pay by cash, Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, or PayPal.

Frequently Asked Questions

• Do I have to have specific beliefs to attend? No! All of the spiritual workshops and ceremonies are optional and women should not be pressured to participate. Women of all beliefs are welcome to the festival as long as women’s goddess spirituality is respected.
• What kind of venue is it? We have a campground in Spicewood, Texas, which is roughly 30 miles outside of Austin. The venue will not allow other campers nor other day-use visitors in the area during our event. There are no cabins this year. Electricity, potable water, and RV hookups are available. There is a bathhouse with flush toilets and hot showers.
• Will food be provided? NO, there will NOT be catering this year. Please bring your own food. You are, however, welcome to bring food to cook for others or share. On Saturday night, we will all eat together in the common area.
• Can I bring alcohol? Of course, the Goddess is in all acts of love and beauty and some of us include the use of herbs and sacred wine in our spiritual practice, but everything has its season and its place. • I want to host a workshop but I don’t know what to do. Anyone can host a workshop! A signup board will be available at the event. Some ideas: song circles, feminist discussions, devotional activities to the goddesses, witchy/spiritual activities, favored pastimes, arts and crafts.
